Anniversary bento
One year and counting!  Revamped the recipe from my first ever bento made a year ago yesterday.  Click on the photo for more details at the website (and my hare-brained fanfood idea...)!

It's funny -- your one year bento anniversary happened the same week that I made my first bento lunches, for myself and my boyfriend. :) Your blog has been an inspiration. I love the gallery and tutorials on your website. We made gyoza from your tutorial, and they turned out great! Our freezer is well stocked with gyoza now. Thanks for such a great site.

Howdy!
Congrats on your anniversary! I am so happy to see you on LJ! I have always loved the culture of Japan, and of course bento- so when I went online to find out more about bento your site kept being raved about and once I stumbled onto "Cooking Cute" I was totally hooked! I love the ways you make something so simple a real feast for the eyes! Your site has been way more helpful to me than any of the books I was able to get at the library, etc. I have started to build up my bento supplies and I hope to post pics of my bento adventures soon! You inspire me so much, and now I know it's ok to have fun and play with my food! lol. Your Totoro rice bento is one of my favs- so far!

Happy Anniversary!!!!
Since I've changed my job and work from home. I have been lazy on the bento front - need to get back into the swing again, I miss my bento lunches.

Hi there. I just joined your site so I could see your bento updates as they are wonderful! I do have one question for you, is that box in your picture a Laptop Lunches box? If so, what was/has been your use with it been like? I am thinking of getting one as a way to take lunch to work. Do you honestly think that it would survive an hour long trip on a New York City subway? Any other recommendations for someone starting out and who doesn't want her lunch spilled all over her purse?!? Thanks! :)

Also, happy anniversary! I am looking forward to seeing all of your work to come! :)

It is indeed a Laptop Lunchbox. I like it so far -- very roomy, which is perfect for my husband. I think it would hold up on a subway ride, but you would only be able to put foods with liquid into the one main compartment and the smallest container that have lids. If you pack things pretty tightly, then all should stay in place during travel. hth!

That really helps! Thank you so much for your response. The newsletter said that they are increasing the price so I bought one and I am waiting for it to come now. Thanks! :)

I happened upon your site cookingcute.com today, and I was impressed with your presentations! I had 2 friends who moved back to Japan, I had forgotten how fun their lunches were! Maybe I'll have to get myself and my daughter bento boxes and see what I can do :) Thanks for sharing!

I might go to Japan this summer. I hope it is somewhat easy to get around!
