Mmm...sushi!

Rolls: inside-out California roll, 'reverse Caterpillar' roll (avocado on the inside with the eel and cucumber)
Nigiri: tamago, mini-SPAM musubi, 'crab'

I made more sushi this time -- there was barely enough room in the box to squeeze in some pickled ginger and wasabi. :)

I'm pleased with the results of my first attempt at the inside-out roll -- you can't see it, but the outside of the roll is sprinkled with black and white sesame seeds. I also tried a new trick with the SPAM (frying it up first and then letting it sit in the teriyaki sauce until I was ready for it) -- we'll see if it tastes better or not.

Wuh oh. I just learned that we're going out to lunch . . . and I have a formal dinner for work tonight. This is going to be one heckuva mid-day snack! =^.^=

Mmm...onigiri

The full-nori-wrapped onigiri are stuffed with a tuna/kewpie mayo/wasabi mixture, and the other onigiri have a thin slice of SPAM in the middle. To round it all out, we have one very "eggstatic" little fellow wearing a mint helmet. =^.^=

It's a very onigiri-happy day today. I had to make 2 sets of 4 this morning, so it took me longer than anticipated and I didn't have time to fill out the second layer of this bento box. Ah well. I do have some tasty choux a la creme, strawberries and kiwi for dessert though!

This is the last occurrence of SPAM this week. I finally used up the half-can that I had sitting in my fridge. I have a feeling that the hubs will request SPAM musubi next week though. Is SPAM like McDonalds? Am I irreparably harming our health by serving slices of it here and there? I think I will wait another week before making the musubi. :P

Oh, and thanks to [info]meocat for naming the little egg guy!
